The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has launched an investigation into certain model year 2013-2014 Nissan Sentra and Versa, and 2014 Versa Note vehicles. This defect investigation affects an estimated 200,000 vehicles.

To date, NHTSA's Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) has received 8 owner complaints (VOQs) alleging incidents of excessive brake pedal travel in the affected Nissan Sentra and Versa vehicles.

In addition, ODI has identified Early Warning Reporting (EWR) field report data related to excessive brake pedal travel in the subject vehicles. A Preliminary Evaluation has been opened to assess the scope, frequency and safety-related consequences of the alleged defect.

Following this initial stage of investigation, ODI will determine what, if any, additional steps need to be taken. This could include further investigation into the alleged defect and an eventual safety recall of all affected Nissan Sentra and Versa vehicles.
