A cosmetics manufacturer has issued a recall for mascara due to potential contamination caused by a manufacturing error.

Santee Cosmetics, of Gardena, CA, is voluntarily recalling its Diamond Color Mascara after the discovery that the product may be tainted with mold. The announcement was issued on December 4, 2015 and the recall effort is ongoing.

The affected product measures 5.5 inches in length and weighs 10 grams. The item bears product number ST081 and UPC 849609004381. The firm believes that more than 30 cases are potentially impacted.

Santee distributed the mascara to retail locations in California and Florida.

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) considers this action to be a Class II recall, meaning that exposure to this product may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences. The risk of serious health issues is small.
