Faulty safety features on trailers is prompting a recall from an auto manufacturer.

Strick Trailers is recalling certain model year 2004 single axle 28-foot van trailers, model S4280E99NFOWW. The recalled trailers are equipped with rear impact guards using gussets. These vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) No. 223, "Rear Impact Guards."

If the rear impact guards do not meet these safety standards, it could increase the risk of injury in the event of a crash.

Strick believes that about 460 trailers are impacted by this issue.

The company will notify owners, and service centers will install reinforcements to the rear impact guards, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin June 10, 2016.
