Rear Wheel Lock Up May Lead to Loss of Control in Ducati Motorcycles
As many as 160 motorcycles may be impacted
Ducati is recalling certain 1199 Superleggera motorcycles, model year 2014, due to a powertrain problem.
On the affected motorcycles, the damper plate assembled between the primary driven gear and the clutch basket assembly could break due to fatigue, and result in the engine seizing and therefore the rear wheel locking up. If this occurs, the driver may lose control and crash.
Ducati will notify owners, and dealers will install a new clutch assembly free of charge.
The recall, which may affect up to 160 motorcycles, is expected to begin on July 18, 2016.
