ESL and Interlogix brand smoke detectors have been recalled because radio frequencies can interfere with the system, failing to alert people to a fire.

About 141,000 ESL and Interlogix brand 400/500 series smoke detectors, a total of 33 models, are impacted by the recall.

The detectors are hard-wired into security and fire systems that are installed by professionals and commonly used in commercial buildings, schools, hotels/motels, apartments, dormitories and homes. No incidents or injuries have been reported.

Customers should immediately contact their security or fire system provider to determine if any of their units are included in the recall. If so, they will receive free replacement and installation of new smoke detectors. Consumers should not take the alarms out of service until the replacement has been installed. Only professional installers should remove and replace these units.

Edwards can be contacted at (800) 655-4497.. Interlogix toll-free at (855) 286-8889.
