Mack Trucks has announced a recall for vehicles due to compromised steering.

The manufacturer is recalling certain model year 2016-2017 Granite (GU) and TerraPro (MRU) trucks. The affected trucks may be missing a roll pin to secure the upper steering yoke to the steering shaft.

If the roll pin is missing, the steering shaft may disconnect from the yoke, resulting in a complete loss of steering and increasing the risk of a crash.

The company is including about 1,200 trucks in its recall.

Mack will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the vehicles and replace the steering shaft if the roll pin is missing, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin on March 11, 2016.

Owners with questions about this recall can contact Mack customer service at (610) 709-2131.
