Volkswagen is recalling approximately 51,000 model year 2009-2014 Volkswagen CC, 2010-2014 Golf, 2010-2011 Eos, 2007-2010 Passat Sedan, and 2007-2010 Passat Wagon vehicles.

What's the problem?

In the event of a crash necessitating deployment of the driver's frontal air bag, the air bag inflator could explode with metal fragments striking vehicle occupants—potentially resulting in serious injury or death.

What happens next?

Volkswagen will notify owners of the recalled CC, Golf, Eos, and Passat vehicles beginning in mid-March 2018. VW dealers will then replace the driver's frontal air bag inflator with an alternative inflator, free of charge.

Vehicles owners with questions about this recall can contact Volkswagen customer service at (800) 893-5298.
