Risk of Fire Leads to Recall from Volvo Bus Corporation
An automaker is recalling a buses due to a fire hazard.
Volvo Bus Corporation announced this week that it would voluntarily recall certain model year 2009-2013 Volvo 9700 buses. In the affected models, the exhaust clamp at the turbocharger may fail, allowing hot exhaust gas to contact materials in the engine compartment. If hot exhaust gas contacts other components or materials, it can increase the risk of a fire.
Volvo has included about 200 buses in this recall.
Volvo will notify owners, and dealers will replace the exhaust clamp, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin November 25, 2015.
Owners with questions about the recall should contact Volvo Bus at (866) 870-2046.
