Risk of Short Circuit Triggers Power Control Module Recall from Hale Products
The recall from the manufacturer applies to about 55,000 power control modules
Hale Products has announced a recall for potentially defective equipment.
The company is recalling certain Class 1 Es-Key power control modules, models PDM, HDPDM, SN, and SNII. The affected items may not provide sufficient circuit protection depending on their combination of software and installation, possibly resulting in a short circuit.
A short circuit may result in damage to components of the vehicle's electrical system, affecting their function (such as causing a loss of headlights), increasing the risk of a crash. A short circuit may also increase the risk of a fire.
About 55,000 power control modules are potentially impacted by this defect.
Hale will notify owners, and dealers will upgrade the software or retrofit fuses to outputs, free of charge. The manufacturer has not yet provided a notification schedule.
