Mack Trucks is issuing a recall for vehicles with potentially compromised steering.

The manufacturer is voluntarily recalling certain model year 2016-2017 Titan vehicles. The bolt connecting the upper steering shaft to the lower steering shaft may not properly secure, which can lead to separation of the steering shaft.

Separation of the steering shaft will result in complete loss of steering, which may lead to a vehicle crash.

About 70 trucks are included in this announcement.

Mack strongly recommends that the affected vehicles not be driven until the interim remedy is applied. An interim notice was sent to Mack owners on March 21, 2016, and an interim repair is available now. A second notice will be sent when the final remedy is available. Both remedies will be free of charge.

Owners with questions about this recall can contact Mack customer service at (877) 800-4945, option 1.
