Rivet Failure Prompts Recall of Aero Trailer Tarping System
the rear aerodynamic device may detach due to The possible Failure
Aero Industries is recalling nearly 1,000 Conestoga XP sliding trailer tarping systems. In the affected tarping systems, the rear aerodynamic device (RAD) may separate from the rear of the tarping system due to rivet failure.
If the RAD detaches from the trailer it may be a road hazard, increasing the risk of a crash.
The recalled trailers were manufactured from October 15, 2014 to January 19, 2016.
The recall process is expected to begin in August 2016.
Aero will notify owners, and will replace the rivets with higher strength bolts and nuts, free of charge.
