An automotive parts manufacturer is issuing a recall due to a suspension defect.

SAF-Holland announced this week that it is recalling certain 5-Inch Tapered Axles. In the affected parts, the wheel end may separate from the axle due to an out of specification material thickness on the spindle. A wheel end that separates from the trailer axle increases the risk of a crash.

The recalled axles, used in trailer applications, include part numbers 24790175090, 24790745090, and 24790165090, manufactured December 13, 2011, to December 25, 2011.

The firm is recalling about 770 axles.

The remedy and notification schedule for this recall are still under development.

Owners with questions about the recall can contact SAF-Holland customer service at (888) 396-6501.
