The SBI does not ask private citizens for money

The State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) is warning consumers about a new scam in which criminals pretend to be from the Bureau and ask victims for money.
The Bureau is reminding consumers that it never asks private citizens for money.
"Unfortunately there is no way to prevent spoofing of a phone number," said SBI Assistant Director Chris Laws who oversees the agency's Information Technology section. "In the event you receive such a call, simply hang up."
The number in question is (919) 662-4500.
