Scenic Fruit Recalls Powder Products Due to Incorrect Labeling

A pair of labeling errors have prompted recalls from Scenic Fruit Company.

First, the company has recalled about 4,800 jars of its Nutri-Fruit Freeze Dried Black Raspberry Powder. The ingredient information indicates that a serving contains zero grams of sugar, while the true amount is actually two grams.

The recalled product is sold in a five ounce jar bearing item number 30007 or 30041 and UPC 0 79947 00019 0. Jars with a best-by date from 02/05/2016 to 04/30/2017 are included in the recall.

Next, the manufacturer is recalling about 330 jars of its Nutri-Fruit Freeze Dried Mango Powder. A labeling error indicates 625.7 grams of carbohydrates in each serving. The correct amount is six grams per serving.

The recalled items are also sold in a five ounce jar, with item number 30042 and UPC 0 79947 00110 4. Best-by dates of 03/12/2016, 08/02/2016, 09/11/2016, and 04/13/2017 appear on the affected jars.

The FDA considers this action to be a Class II recall, meaning that exposure to this product may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences. The risk of serious health issues is small.
