Side Airbags May Not Deploy in Audi A3 Cabriolet Vehicles

Drivers may be subjected to a defective airbags in some Volkswagen cars.

The Volkswagen Group of America is issuing a recall for certain model year 2015 Audi A3 Cabriolet vehicles. The affected vehicles have a driver or front passenger seat whose cover may be incorrectly stitched, preventing the side airbag from properly deploying in the event of a crash.

Improper side airbag deployment increases the risk of injury in the event of a crash.

Volkswagen is including more than 900 vehicles in its announcement.

The company will notify owners, and dealers will replace the driver's and front passenger's seatback cover, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin in February 2016.
