General Motors (GM) is recalling approximately 3,200 model year 2013 Chevrolet Volt vehicles.

What's the problem?

An update to the Vehicle Interface Control Module (VICM) on these vehicles may have disabled the cell balancing function, causing a low-voltage condition.

If the voltage drops, the vehicle may lose propulsion, increasing the risk of a crash.

What happens next?

GM will notify owners of the recalled Chevrolet Volt vehicles in the coming weeks. Dealers will then reprogram the VICM, free of charge.

Vehicle owners with further questions or concerns about this recall should contact Chevrolet customer service at (800) 222-1020.

The reference number for this recall is 18215.
