South Shore Recalls Chests of Drawers Due to Life-Threatening Tip-Over and Entrapment Hazards
Consumers should immediately stop using any recalled chest that is not properly anchored and contact the company
South Shore has issued a recall of approximately 3,500 5-drawer chests. The recalled chests are unstable if they are not anchored to the wall, posing a serious tip-over and entrapment hazard that can result in death or injuries to young children.
RECALLED PRODUCT DETAILS
This recall involves Summer Breeze style 5-drawer chest of drawers sold in cherry wood. Model number 3746035 is printed on a label affixed to the back of the chest and on the assembly guide. The chests measure 44-inches high by 31-inches wide and 16-inches deep, and weigh approximately 88 pounds.
WHERE WERE THE PRODUCTS SOLD?
The recalled chests were sold at Amazon.com, Walmart.com, Wayfair.com, and other online retailers from April 2014 through December 2016 for about $160.
No incidents or injuries have been reported in connection with this recall, to date.
WHAT SHOULD CONSUMERS DO?
Consumers should immediately stop using any recalled chest that is not properly anchored to the wall and place it into an area that children cannot access. Contact South Shore for a choice between two options: full refund with free pick up of the chest, or a free tip-over restraint kit with a one-time in-home installation of the kit. South Shore is contacting consumers who purchased the recalled chests directly.

UPDATE: South Shore has expanded this recall to include an additional 64,800 chests. The newly-recalled chests include model numbers 3746035 or 3746035A in royal cherry, 3294035 or 3294035A in blueberry, 3219035 or 3219035A in chocolate, and 3210035 or 3210035A in white.
