Starbucks Takes No-Smoking Policy to the Next Level
Starbucks has made a big change to its no-smoking policy. The coffee chain will now require smokers to stand at least 25 feet away from any Starbucks store while smoking.
The company's previous smoking policy let customers smoke as long as they were not in the store or on the store's patio. This allowed smokers to light up within just a few feet of other patrons.
The new smoking ban went into effect on June 1, 2013 at all Starbucks locations in the United States and Canada.
The new no-smoking policy applies only to Starbucks' corporately-owned stores, not licensed stores in places like airports, department stores and supermarkets, which have their own no-smoking rules.
