Hyundai Motor America has announced the recall of approximately 44,000 model year 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe and Santa Fe Sport vehicles.

What's the problem?

The steering wheel assembly on these vehicles may break. If this occurs, the steering wheel could separate from the steering column while the vehicle is being driven, potentially leading to a loss of vehicle control and increasing the risk of a crash.

What happens next?

Owners of the affected Santa Fe and Santa Fe Sport vehicles will be notified by Hyundai in mid-March 2018. Hyundai dealers will then check the production lot number of the vehicle's steering wheel assembly, replacing it as necessary, free of charge.

Owners seeking additional information about this recall can reach Hyundai customer service by calling (855) 371-9460.
