Stools from School Specialty Expose Students to Fall Hazard

School Specialty Inc. has issued a recall for about 6,000 Classroom Select NeoRok Stools in response to reports that the item can break during use, posing a fall hazard to students.

The company has received nine reports of stools breaking during use, including one injury report involving a concussion.The company in June 2015 issued a similar recall involving about 1,350 stools.

The recall applies to 18-inch tall and 20-inch tall stools with a tilting and rocking feature. The stools have a round black rubber seat insert with a solid color plastic seat and black rimmed base. The Classroom Select logo is printed on one side of the base and the NeoRok name is printed on the other. The 18-inch stools bear item number 1496340, while recalled 20-inch stools show item number 1496342.

These items could be purchased via catalog from Classroom Direct, School Specialty Furniture and Equipment, School Specialty Education Essentials, and School Specialty Early Childhood, and on at School Specialty's website from May 2015 through November 2015 for between $105 and $115.

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled stools and contact School Specialty for a full refund or merchandise credit. Those who were given replacement stools during the previous recall should also contact the company for a refund or credit. School Specialty is contacting consumers directly.
