JBS USA, Inc., of Lenoir, NC, is recalling approximately 4,900 pounds of its ground beef after the discovery of shredded pieces of Styrofoam packaging in the meat. To date, there have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of the recalled items.
The affected ground beef is packaged in two-pound black Styrofoam plastic wrapped trays bearing the name Certified Angus Beef Ground Chuck 80% Lean 20% Fat, production date 7/15/17, case code 541640, and establishment number EST. 34176 inside the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) mark of inspection.
These items were shipped to a distribution center in North Carolina for further distribution to other establishments.
Consumers who have purchased any of the recalled ground beef are urged not to consume it. The product should be disposed of immediately.
