Sunroof Problems Plague More than 87,000 Recalled Chevrolet Malibu Sedans
More than 87,000 Chevrolet Malibu sedans are being recalled for a problem with the sunroof.
In certain model year 2013-2015 Malibus the slide or tilt switch for the roof panel may not be adequately recessed to prevent the switch from being inadvertently pressed. This could cause the sunroof to auto-close unexpectedly, increasing the risk of injury.
The cars also fail to comply with federal safety standards.
General Motors will notify owners affected by the recall, but has not yet provided a notification schedule.
Dealers will update the Body Control Module (BCM) software to remove auto-close feature for certain switch positions, free of charge.
