Supplement, Instant Coffee Recalled Due to Presence of Dangerous Substances

A pair of companies are issuing recalls for supplements due to the presence of potentially dangerous substances.

Recall One

First, Man of Steel is recalling 175 lots of its Man of Steel 1 and Man of Steel 2 supplements after the discovery that they contain sildenafil. The product is marketed as a male enhancement supplement and is packaged in an individual blister package. The affected lots bear expiration date 10-17-18. They were sold at local convenience stores in Sacramento, CA.

Sildenafil is dangerous because it can interact in dangerous ways with nitrates, a common prescription drug taken by consumers with diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, or heart disease.

What should consumers do?

Consumers in possession of the product should dispose of it or return it to the place of purchase. Man of Steel is notifying its distributors and customers and is arranging for the replacement of all recalled products.

Recall Two

Next, AMPT Life is recalling all lots of AMPT Coffee to the consumer level. Analysis conducted by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) revealed that the product contains sildenafil, tadalafil (a substance similar in structure to sildenafil), and undeclared milk.

AMPT Coffee is an instant coffee product and is marketed as a libido booster. It is packaged in a in a red box and red packets with black writing, bearing UPC 6942630912. It was distributed to consumers nationwide through internet sales from April 2016 to March 2017.

What should consumers do?

The company is notifying its customers by email. Consumers in possession of the product should stop using and discard any remaining coffee.

No injuries or illnesses have been reported to date in connection with this product, to date.
