Tainted Turkey Sausage Forces French Toast Sticks Recall

July 13, 2015

Unless you've developed a taste for industrial conveyer belt, check those French toast sticks before you pop them in the oven.

Gourmet Culinary Solutions is recalling almost 500 pounds of turkey sausage products due to the potential presence of pieces of a conveyer belt inside the packaging.

According to U.S. Department of Agriculture's (USDA) Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS), the recall specifically affects Golden Gourmet French Toast Sticks with Turkey Patty and Peaches.

Sold in 8.25-ounce trays with a use-by date of Nov. 14, 2016, the defect was discovered by a customer who reported it to the Statham, GA-based company, prompting a withdrawal of the product from the market. No adverse reactions have been reported.

The packages bear establishment number "P-21200" inside the USDA mark of inspection. Individual entrées were distributed to older adults in Georgia as part of the Meals on Wheels program.

Consumers with questions about the recall can contact Brian Zulaica, director of Gourmet Culinary Solutions, at (770) 725-4620.
