Thor Motor Coach Recalls Motorhomes in Violation of Federal Safety Standard

May 7, 2015

Thor Motor Coach is recalling certain model year 2016 Four Winds, Citation, Outlaw, Chateau, Siesta, and Freedom Elite motorhomes that were manufactured between February 14, 2015 and April 6, 2015.

The recalled motorhomes may be missing the water weight carrying capability information on the Occupant and Cargo Carrying Capacity (OCCC) label. As a result, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 120, "Tire Selection and Rims and Motor Home/Recreation Vehicle Trailer Load Carrying Capacity Information for Motor Vehicles with a GVWR of more than 4,536 kilograms (10,000 pounds)."

If the vehicle is loaded to its weight capacity without including the weight of the water carried onboard, the motorhome may be overloaded. This can cause a loss of vehicle control, increasing the risk of a crash.

Thor will notify owners of the affected motorhomes and provide a new OCCC label with the correct weight carrying information, free of charge.
