Threat of Infection Prompts Mascara Recall from Kleancolor

A risk of contamination is prompting a cosmetics recall from Genosco.

The company, doing business as Kleancolor, is recalling its Bow-Tux Volumizing Mascara. The affected product may be contaminated with bacillus cereus, staphylococcus epidermidis, and staphylococcus warneri. All of these bacteria can cause serious eye infections.

The recalled product is sold in 10.94 ml containers bearing UPC 8-10236-00878-3, lot number GMX414A, and item number MS1878.

The company is including about 14,000 tubes of mascara in the recall.

Kleancolor distributed its products to retail locations in California, Florida, Georgia, New York, and Texas.
