Tires Installed on Daimler Trucks Have Insufficient Load Capacity

Overloading of the tires could cause tire failure, increasing the risk of a crash

April 28, 2016

Daimler Trucks North America (DTNA) is issuing a recall for trucks with potentially faulty tires.

The announcement from the auto manufacturer applies to certain model year 2016 114SD and M2 Business Class trucks. The affected vehicles have front axles that have a 20,000 pound capacity. However, the installed Bridgestone R249 front tires have a lower maximum load capacity.

The operator may unintentionally overload the tires, possibly causing tire failure and increasing the risk of a crash.

The manufacturer believes that four trucks are affected by this issue.

DTNA will notify owners, and dealers will replace the front tires with tires of a higher load capacity, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin June 7, 2016.

Owners with questions about this recall can contact DTNA customer service at (800) 745-8000.
