Toyota is recalling about 16,700 new model Toyota and Lexus vehicles for a defect that can cause a driver to lose control of the car.

The recall affects certain model year 2016 Toyota RAV4, Lexus RX350 and Lexus ES350 vehicles that are equipped with an ABS actuator with a damaged O-ring. A damage O-ring could result in improper brake fluid pressure when the ABS, traction control or stability control features are used.

This could cause the driver to lose control of the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.

Toyota will notify affected owners, and dealers will inspect and replace the brake actuator, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin in June.
