UPDATED: Triple E Initiates Motorhome Recall Due to Potential Fire Hazard
Safety risks have led to two recalls from one recreational vehicle manufacturer.
First, Triple E Recreational Vehicles, operating as Leisure Travel Vans, is voluntarily recalling 2016 Unity motorhomes. The recall covers models U24MB, U24CB, U24IB and U24TB, manufactured from September 2, 2014, through September 9, 2015.
In the affected vehicles, the battery compartment under the entrance step was not properly sealed to prevent gases from the battery from entering the vehicle. Explosive gases from the battery may enter the motorhome, increasing the risk of a fire.
Triple E believes that almost 250 travel vans are potentially impacted by this issue.
Triple E will notify owners, and dealers will seal the battery compartment to prevent gases from entering the motorhome, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin in October 2015.
Second, Triple E is recalling certain model year 2016 Libero L24CB and Serenity S24CB recreational vehicles. In the affected vehicles, there is the possibility of an electrical shock when the window valance on the driver side rear of the vehicle is removed as the screw may become electrically charged. The possibility of an electrical shock increases the risk of injury.
Triple E will notify owners, and dealers will reroute the wiring to the overhead cabinet near where the valance is to be installed, free of charge. This recall is also expected to begin in October 2015.
Owners with questions about either recall can contact the company at (877) 992-9906.
