Unstable Seats Prompt Recalls from Three Bus Manufacturers
The manufacturers involved in the recall are Turtle Top, Blue Bird, and Champion Bus
A trio of bus manufacturers has announced recalls for vehicles with potentially dangerous seats.
Turtle Top, Blue Bird, and Champion Bus are recalling various transit and shuttle buses. The affected models are equipped with seats that are not sturdily attached to the base frame, due to possible bolt failure. In the event of a crash, the seat can separate from the base frame, increasing the risk of injury to the seat occupant.
Turtle Top is recalling six model year 2016 Odyssey transit buses, Blue Bird is recalling six model year 2017 All American Forward Engine transit buses, and Champion Bus is recalling five model year 2016 Challenger shuttle buses.
The manufacturers are notifying owners, and will replace the seats, free of charge. The recalls are expected to begin in May 2016.
Owners with questions about these recalls can contact Turtle Top at (574) 831-4340, Blue Bird at (478) 822-2242, and Champion Bus at (810) 724-1753, extension 415.
