Victims of Telemarketing Scam to Receive Refund Checks
Consumers who were involved in a telemarketing scam that promised to reduce credit card rates are getting a refund as part of a Federal Trade Commission (FTC) settlement.
About 10,400 checks totaling more than $969,000 will be mailed to victims who should deposit or cash the checks within 60 days of the mailing date.
Innovative Wealth Builders falsely promised consumers it could reduce their credit card interest rates and save them thousands of dollars on their debts. An FTC lawsuit claimed that the company made false claims to consumers about their reduction services and refund polices, and billed consumers without their consent.
The FTC never requires consumers to pay money or provide information before refund checks can be cashed. The average amount of each check will be about $90.
