The latest web video from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) introduces viewers to the components of the crash propulsion system, housed in the basement of the Vehicle Research Center.

"Inside IIHS: The crash propulsion system" provides a rare glimpse of the hidden machinery that powers the cables that pull a vehicle toward another vehicle or a barrier for a crash test.

The video is available on the IIHS YouTube channel and is part of the "Inside IIHS" web video series.

Previous installments in the series have focused on IIHS crash test dummies, frontal crash testing, roof strength testing and rear crash testing.
