Vinint Recalling 213,000 Dimming Switches for Shock Hazard

May 22, 2015

About 213,000 plug-in dimming switches have been recalled.

The module's wiring was installed incorrectly, posing a shock hazard to consumers. No injuries, however, have been reported.

The recall affects Vivint's Remotec plug-in dimming and on/off switch module, model ZDS-100US. It was sold separately or with in home automation alarm systems that remotely control lighting and home appliances and acts as a repeater that amplifies wireless signals.

Recalled modules have the first four digits of the serial numbers ranging from 1115 through 1440. Remotec, model and serial numbers are printed in black on the rear of the dimming switch module.

They were sold at authorized dealers nationwide and online from April 2011 through October 2014 for about $50.

Consumers should contact Vivint Inc. immediately for instructions for a free replacement module. Vivint is also contacting consumers directly.

Vivint can be contacted at (855) 759-8189.
