Walmart Recalls Rival Griddles for Defective Heating Element

January 12, 2016

Cooking pancakes on your Rival griddle just became a little more intense.

Walmart is recalling about 330,000 griddles due to a defective heating element that can crack, allowing water to get inside. Users are at risk of electrical shock when the griddle is plugged into an outlet.

No incidents or injuries have been reported.

The recall includes model number XJ-14207 Rival brand electric griddles. The griddles are black and measure 20 inches long by 10.5 inches wide. Walmart and the model number are printed on a label molded into the bottom of the griddle. Rival is printed on the outside edge of the griddle and on the griddle's temperature dial.

They were sold exclusively at Walmart stores nationwide and online from July 2015 through December 2015 for about $20.

Consumers should immediately unplug and stop using the recalled griddles and return them to any Walmart store for a full refund.
