Water Damage Can Adversely Impact Brakes in Gillig Buses
A bus manufacturer has issued a recall for vehicles that may have compromised braking capability.
The announcement from Gillig LLC applies to certain model year 2014-2015 Low Floor vehicles. The affected vehicles may be equipped with front brake chambers with an incorrect drain orientation. This can allow water to build up within the brake chamber, causing corrosion, deterioration, and reduced braking ability.
Any of these problems can increase the risk of a crash.
The company believes that about 15 buses are impacted by this defect.
Gillig will notify owners and the brake chambers will be replaced free of charge. The recall is expected to begin February 19, 2016.
Owners with questions about this recall can contact Gillig customer service at (800) 735-1500.
