General Motors (GM) is recalling certain model year 2018 Chevrolet Equinox vehicles.

What's the problem?

The driver and front passenger door window glass on the affected vehicles may not be properly tempered. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 205, "Glazing Materials."

If the glass is not tempered properly, and the window is broken, the glass can break into large pieces, increasing the risk of injury.

What happens next?

GM will notify owners of the recalled Chevrolet Equinox vehicles in mid-May 2018. Local Chevrolet dealers will then replace the glass in the front doors, free of charge.

Owners with further questions or concerns about this recall can contact Chevrolet customer service at (800) 222-1020.

GM's reference number for this recall is 18136.
