Mitsubishi says that certain model year 2011-2016 Outlander Sport vehicles are equipped with windshield wipers that may suddenly become inoperative.

As a result, approximately 158,650 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport vehicles are being recalled.

What's the problem?

According to the manufacturer, water may enter between the hood and windshield and cause the front wiper link ball joint to corrode, possibly resulting in the wiper link separating and the wipers no longer functioning.

Loss of wiper function can reduce driver visibility and increase the risk of a crash.

What happens next?

Mitsubishi will notify owners of the recalled Outlander vehicles beginning in April 2018. Local Mitsubishi dealers will then replace the rod of the wiper link and the wiper motor crank arm. These repairs will be completed at no cost to vehicle owners.
