Winnebago Industries has issued a safety recall affecting certain model year 2015 BUS28WC and BUS28SH transit buses.

What's the problem?

Based on the seating capacity of the vehicle as equipped, if fully loaded, the buses may exceed the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) and/or the gross axle weight rating (GAWR) limitations indicated on the certification label. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of 49 CFR Part 567, "Certification."

Overloading of the transit bus may result in a loss of control, increasing the risk of a crash.

What happens next?

Winnebago will notify owners of the recalled transit buses—though a schedule for these notifications has not yet been announced. Dealers will then reduce the seating capacity of the bus, free of charge.
